Distractions are real.  They are prevalent and unrelenting.  Life is filled with them and it’s quite easy to elevate some of the distractions in our lives to a level of prominence and forget all about what our primary focus is.  That is how chaotic life can be.

As I write this, I am just a couple of days past the celebration of the 70-year milestone birthday that has been pervading my thoughts for many months now. In reflection, I can see where the “WHAT IF MONSTER” was frequently rearing its ugly head and trying to instill fear, trepidation and other negative feelings and thoughts.  I am grateful that I was able to denounce them and forge ahead trusting God to do what he promised.  That said, I want to offer the following advice:

Throughout the course of our lives, there are landmark birthdays.  It seems that quite a few are crammed into the early years…the first – the sixth (old enough to go to big school) ; 13 (becoming a teenager) ; fifteenth and sixteenth (bar mitzvahs, quinceaneras, sweet 16, old enough to begin driving) ; eighteenth (graduation, old enough to vote) ;  twenty-one (legal age for drinking alcohol).  After that, the landmark years spread out and seem to come up once every decade.
