GIVING THANKS WITH EVERY STEP

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

AS I WALK…I am still thrilled that the weather here has not been so drastic that I can’t walk outdoors and get my 3+ miles in. That is one of the reasons that I love living in Midland, America. There is a crispness in the air that warns these temperatures and sunny days are probably drawing to a close. I was thinking about what an incredible creator God is to put alerts in the atmosphere and all around so that at no time do you have to operate without a sense of awareness. And if we are wise, we will spend our time enjoying and savoring every moment; doing things with and for those we love; giving from our heart and making certain that we don’t have to live life with regrets about what we should have, could have or would have done differently.

Although today is Thanksgiving, quite a few homes in my neighborhood are already decked out for Christmas. People went straight from jack-o-lanterns to candy canes and inflatable snowmen. The yards were strewn with the deflated decorations and looking like Santa may have been throwing his laundry out of his sled.

But no matter…all of it still said “optimism” to me. It indicated that somebody was looking forward to a more cheerful and hopefully more positive time. It showed that despite the chaos of the last several months, somebody had an outlook that what is to come, LIFE, however it is served up…on a platter or in a styrofoam carry-out container is so worth living. I smiled at the candy canes which could hardly wait for the pumpkins and autumn decorations to move out of the way. The thought came to my mind, “You should not postpone JOY” - those little things that put a smile on your face and make you happy. Focus on that today and by all means…WALK ON!
