FACING DOWN YOUR CHALLENGES

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

AS I WALK...it has been a little over two months now that I have been on this journey. When I started, it took me longer to lace my sneakers than the actual walk. Walking in this West Texas heat had me huffing and puffing like the wolf who was threatening the three little pigs (you can laugh, because I did).

I'd like to tell you four things that I had to wrap my head around and be firmly convinced of in order to face down the obstacles that challenged me.

1) JUST GET STARTED. Forget about not having the latest work-out fashions. You don't need a gym membership or any special equipment. You have enough to begin.

2) BE OKAY WITH DOING WHAT YOU CAN DO. Maybe it's chair aerobics, making steps in place or just stretching. On this journey, I have come across some really trim and fit individuals who jog past with ponytails bobbing, swiftly moving along while I am just moving seemingly so slow. But remember every journey begins with a single step.

3) CONGRATULATE YOURSELF. You're doing a great job. There are enough people who will be on the side to discourage you so you encourage yourself. I laugh at times when people ask if I am watching my weight and my response is NO. There are plenty of people who seem to feel they are anointed and appointed to watch it for me, so I can use my energy to look out for something else.

4) DON'T GIVE UP - YOU CAN DO THIS! Keep going. A few steps turned into a longer distance. About a month ago it became a mile. Now I have worked up to 2 miles each day!

Trust me when I say, "If I can do it, anybody can!" I believe in you. I've been so encouraged by my many Facebook friends that have posted their progress. Maybe my fledgling efforts will encourage someone as well. Feel free to post and we can communicate about it and by all means...WALK ON!
