AS I WALK...Lord knows sometimes the spirit is willing but the flesh is WEAK! It was one of those mornings when I knew what I needed to do, but I didn’t want to roll out and get going. After a lengthy conversation with myself, commitment prevailed and I got out the door. The weather was blissfully pleasant. Baby Bear would have loved it! It wasn’t too hot or too cold; there was a gentle breeze stirring and it was overcast so that the sun was not bearing down on me as I walked. It was just right! It was almost as if the weather was saying, “See – look what you would have missed if you had passed this up.”
On the last stretch of my walk, I could hear a car coming up behind me and I moved closer to the curb. The car slowed and my “spidey sense” could tell it was rolling toward me. When I looked toward it, there was a little lady with a big toothy smile inside who rolled down the window and said, “I hope I didn’t startle you” and then she proceeded to hand me a little card with a penny affixed to it. She said that she fest prompted by the Lord to share that with me and said that “every time we see a penny on the pavement or wherever to be sure to pick it up because there is a message for us.” We chatted for a few moments and I told her that I do exactly that and consider it a little reminder from the Lord to continue to trust him. I thanked her and kept started on my way. A few moments later she was rolling back and said, “I’m sorry, but I wanted to tell you that sometimes the coins you find on the road are all dirty. I use vinegar and an eraser to clean them up. Isn’t that how the Lord does us? He cleans us all up from what we used to be.” I agreed and when she waved, I said, “Be blessed.” She said, “You were my blessing today.”
Picture that…I want that to be said of me every day – that I was somebody’s blessing. I got in my two miles and a little better. In addition, I received a blessing and reminder to continue trusting God and by all means…WALK ON!
