WALKING WITH ROBIN

AS I WALK...fall is in the air! Let me let you in on a little secret – if “fall is in the air”, I won’t be. Chilly winds and cold temperatures are not my friends. I am a very cold-natured individual. I love the sunshine which is one reason why the West Texas heat doesn’t really bother me greatly. So, the challenge is, how do you continue doing something that you have started which you know is really good for you? How do you maintain something like walking? The answer is you find another way. You figure it out and you press forward.


I had already experienced one or two days of trying to get it done indoors previously. My preference is to be outside where I have no choice but to “get er done”. However far you walk away, you have to walk the same distance back – no way around it. But with the weather changing, having to opt for doing it daily indoors was going to have to be addressed. One of the down-sides of anything that goes on for a long period of time is that you have to find ways to stay engaged. So, I have been keeping up my walking regimen by walking with somebody. No mask is needed because I’m doing so virtually. I’m walking with Robin Roberts.


Every morning Robin, George, Michael, Lara, Ginger, Amy and others are invited guests in my home. I like to tune in and see what is transpiring in the world. Believe me when I say a whole lot can take place while you are asleep. (One day I will have to tell you the story about John Kennedy, Jr. or the election of 2000.) In any case, Robin is a tall, lithe, regal beauty who I enjoy watching and she inspires shorter, un-lithe, regular me to keep it moving. Simply put, find inspiration and motivation where you can and stay on track.


Indications are that we could be in for a long ride in a difficult time. Please don’t grow tired of doing what is necessary to stay safe (masks, social distancing, washing your hands, and avoiding crowds). It’s frustrating…I KNOW…but I need you to be here when this is all over. Keep strengthening and improving on your health by staying active. If necessary, find a virtual walking buddy and WALK ON!
